What is Prep Course?
The CrossFit West Ames Prep Course is our introduction to CrossFit for individuals who are committed to changing their life. CrossFit is a mashup of many different sports and areas of sport, which means there are many movements you haven’t seen in other workout regimens. Our Prep Course will not only teach you how to perform many of these movements, but also the mechanics of movement in general. It is our belief that fitness is a way of life – not just a temporary state or pursuit. As such, it is of utmost importance to start this journey knowing and understanding the mechanics of movement for your success and prevention of injury.
If you attend your Prep Course regularly, you can expect a multitude of benefits, including: fat loss, increased muscle tone, increased body control, confidence in your training and abilities, and much more strength. You will also find you have increased stamina, endurance, and flexibility. In addition you may improve energy and vitality. Show up, don’t quit, and get after those goals!
The CrossFit West Ames Prep Course is a great way to get fit while having fun in a supportive atmosphere. Being surrounded by like-minded, motivated people makes all the difference in staying consistent with training. Our Prep Course is the product of five years of experience introducing people to our program and the CrossFit ideology. It has evolved into what it is today through learning and adapting to how people are most successfully integrated into a CrossFit-style training.
New! Prep Course EXPRESS
New for 2018, the same great Prep Course experience in half the time. You will learn all the same movements and progressions as our regular Prep Course, but will be on to CrossFit classes in two weeks!

What to Expect
This course includes eighteen 60-75 minute classes spread over four weeks, four classes per week. We start by building up your baseline fitness level and creating body awareness and control before delving into barbells. We provide homework/at-home workout assignments for your “off” days and the weekend as well. You will also participate in discussions regarding many other lifestyle habits that play a vital role in your health, fitness and performance. Working out comes naturally to some people, for others it can be difficult to stay motivated or consistent. THAT is why we want to help you create HABITS that will propel you into a sustainable routine. Knowing how to properly move your body as well as knowing your strengths and weaknesses will give you confidence to keep moving forward – setting goals and reaching them.
